Church: Minoru Chapel
Venue: The Delf Room
Ring ‘Bear’er’s tux: Olivia’s Mom (She also made her own gown!)
It was another beautiful day in the Lower Mainland as Steve & Olivia got hitched at Minoru Chapel on Saturday with their dog, Bear, as the ring Bear-er. Their friends were as nutty as I figured they would be, knowing Steve from back in my Costco days. I don’t think the day could have been any more perfect for these two!

Jane and Scott were married this past weekend at Minoru Chapel in Richmond, followed by a reception at the always beautiful Mayfair Lakes. Scott had me in tears as he tried to maintain his composure during the ceremony. You’d think after almost 200 weddings I’d be all cried out!
Here are a few teasers from the day. There’s more on my Facebook page!
I also have to plug my favourite florist, Jayme Carter at Unique Boutique!
Jane and Scott, I hope you have along and happy life together!

I had a booth at the Langley Bridal Show in Fort Langley last Tuesday and it was a huge success! It’s always good to see a few of my favourite vendors - The Seasonal Experience (awesome food!), Jack & Jill Weddings (amazing decor & chair covers), Princess & The Pea B&B (hoping my hubby will take ME there one day!) Razor’s Edge & Paint By Numbr (moblie hair and makeup crew). I always enjoy meeting new people and also seeing the die hard bridal show attendees who never seem to miss a show!
If you are looking for a photographer for your big day, I still have a few fall dates left for 2008 and am also booking into 2009.
See you at the next show in October!

Last Sunday I met with local photographer Charlene Phoenix and her family to make some long awaited family portraits. I was flattered Charlene chose me and she and her Mom sound very pleased with the outcome!
As always, here are a few of my faves from the session…
Thanks Charlene! Coffee soon!

On May 12, 2008 we said good bye to my husband’s Aunt Kathy after a long battle with cancer.

Her daughter, Penny, is participating in the BC Cancer Foundation’s Underwear Affair and could use some support! There are two ways you can help:
1) You can donate at her personal page on the Underwear Affair site.
2) You can see her show, “The C Word”, this Friday night in Abbotsford. Penny wrote to me this morning:
Hey friends
Plans for Friday??????
Come see a show, raise money for cancer and honour my mom. One month today my mom passed away and tomorrow in her memory I am staging a variety show at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (in Abby at City Hall on South Fraser Way) The show will be funny, you will sing you will dance, you will laugh and you might just get a bit weepy. All the proceeds will go to my walk for Cancer on July 12.
tickets are available at the door, bring a friend, a loved one and come support a great cause
with love
Penny
Hopefully someday we can find a cure for all cancers! Good luck with the show Penny. I know it will be a good one!

Thursday night I headed down to White Rock Beach with Krista & Dustin for a sunset engagement session. What a gorgeous evening it was - and they are a super sweet couple too. I’ll see you at your 08/08/08 wedding!

Some people would think of it as a good problem to have: two couples looking at the same date.
One day I meet with a fantastic couple. Let’s call them… drum roll please… Couple A. We chat for a while and hit it off. We have lots of laughs and they are ooohing and aaaaahing over my photos. They have a couple more photographers to meet and will make their decision next week sometime. No problem. I want them to make sure they find the photographer that fits them best - hoping, of course, that it’s ME!
That evening I receive an inquiry for Couple A’s date from Couple B .
What do I do now?!
I remember when Chris and I bought our first minivan. It was a 1985 Toyota LE. We called it the Mystery Machine. The dealer kept telling us that if we didn’t buy it today we’d likely lose it because ‘there are three guys waiting in the wings to jump on this deal’.
“OMG… REALLY?! (Insert sarcastic smiley here) Chris, we better get it today!”
Give me a break. In the end, we ended up buying it just because it was fun to drive and it was Scooby Doo cool!
Where was I? Oh right. Back to Couples A&B…
Do I let Couple A know I got an inquiry and risk sounding like the salesman? “What a coincidence. As soon as you left, someone inquired about your date! What are the chances?!” Uh-huh. Of course they did.
Do I let Couple B know that I’ve already met someone for that date? “Just so you know, that’s a popular date. You might want to decide right now that you’re going to book me.” Riiiiggghhhtttt…
Do I tell both of them and risk losing 2 possible clients due to major cheesy smarminess or do I not tell either of them and just stick to my ‘first booking fee in my hand gets the date’ policy and risk upsetting the couple who may have had their mind set on hiring me?
If you’re a photographer reading my blog, what would you do?
If you’re a bride or groom reading, which would you prefer?
Inquiring minds want to know. You can leave your comments in the box below.
